Today we got our dossier back from the Chinese consulate in Chicago. I WAS going to drive it to our agency for final approval and it would get sent to China Fri. BUT, our background checks were more than 6 months old (6months and 11days). Sooooo, they would not authenticate them. No document can be more than 6 months old, we missed it by 11 days. Soooo, now we have to redo our background check. Then it will go to Indy to be state sealed and then to the consulate in Chicago again. What we thought was going to be this Fri. the 8th for our dossier to be sent to China, will be probably be one more month. So we get to add one more month to the time frame it has taken us to complete our paperwork. The end of April will be one year. We possibly could be the slowest people ever to complete their dossier. I should check the Guinness Book of World Records. Our wait does not start until our dossier(paperwork) is in China and logged in to their system. The wait right now for a baby is at two years. I may have to install a baby seat on my walker by the time she gets here. Shoot, at this rate I will be on a walker BEFORE our dossier gets to China!!!!! By the time she gets here maybe I will have one of those nice electric scooters in metal-flake red with a basket on the front!
Right now our dossier(huge pile of paperwork) is in Chicago at the Chinese Embassy. The Chinese Consulate is doing a process called authentication. This is the last step. Our dossier will return to us, then we give it to the agency for one final check. From there it is off to China to receive our LID(log in date). That is when China has put us in their system and the wait has officially begun. For now, they do not know we exist. The wait is at 2 years and growing. I don’t know how long it will be for us to get to our daughter. I just can’t stand it! Thinking if she is born yet. Or is her mother pregnant with her? Does this mother know what she will do? My heart aches for the mother of my child. We will be so blessed by her child that she will have to let go. Lord, I pray that you watch over them both. Thank You.
On a different note, I am very excited for my friend Jill. Her LID is 6-13-2007. It is such a blessing to have a friend that is adopting from China too! Jill and her husband were inspired to adopt after I told them it was a dream of mine. They actually got ahead of us. I know it is all in God’s time to get us to our daughters. I am so amazed to think of the short time that Jill was my neighbor and by me sharing my dream it would inspire them to adopt as well. I share my dream with everyone and no one else has jumped on board! I know God made Jill my neighbor for a reason. I think Jill and I are connected by a red thread. We will be connected forever.
I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:11-13
